How do you feel about aluminum cookware? It gives me the creeps. That’s why I was willing to spend a bit of time to exchange a slow cooker. Plus, I’ll show you yet another reason why you should show Amazon Prime some love — especially if you live in the “lower 48”.
Welcome to money Monday, where I share my highs and lows from a week of money management.
Wise Money Management
This week I saved money by returning a gift to Amazon. Before you espouse my lack of humanity, let me explain that the giver was emphatic that I purchase the style that I wanted. They bought me the cadillac model of slow cooker (so cool, but lined with teflon and aluminum — ick!) and I’m returning it to purchase the plain jane model. Plus, I’ll add the remaining money toward this espresso machine that I’ve been coveting for years:
I’m looking forward to writing about Amazon’s gift return process, which involved a little bit of work (Amazon has to protect their interests, after all) but wasn’t too difficult.
Why any effort at all? Because even though the giftee indicated that I should exchange it if required, I was still too chicken to ask for an order number (those magical digits that speed up the process immensely).
Guess what happens when your extended family is celebrating Christmas on Dec. 12th and you’re scrambling last minute to come up with a gift? You pay for 2-day shipping, that’s what.
‘Cause, you know, we live a million miles away from the rest of civilization 😉
I paid a nearly $50 penalty for procrastinating + being Alaskan. The Alaskan part is totally worth it. Being a procrastinator? Not so much.
How did you manage money wisely this week?
