Welcome to money Monday, where I share my highs and lows from a week of money management.
Wise Money Management
This week I saved money by staying home. Simple, huh?
At our homeschool we spend six weeks working our tushies off and then partake in a week of rest. It’s a schedule that we discovered a couple of years ago that works very well for us.
Sometimes on our off weeks we do field trips and adventures.
This week, with my husband still working overtime, we decided to just chill. It helps that my second born received his long awaited super-duper snap circuit kit. He and the firstborn spent nearly every morning working circuits after chores.
Yes, we are happily raising total nerds. Nerds rule the world, didn’t you get that memo?
It’s easy to save money when you never get in the car and Mom is busy on the computer planning a book promotion.
I absolutely hate it when I waste food. Last week the neighbor texted that she was in need of an onion… could I spare any?
Upon inspecting the dedicated onion storage area (a grocery bag in the garage) I discovered that yes, I did have several onions. All rotten. Plus several sweet potatoes gone bad.
And I call myself a personal finance blogger.
Charlee from Humble in a Heartbeat had a great reminder recently about how to avoid wasting food. I think my problem was that those onions were out of site, out of mind. We store some of our edibles in the garage because our cabinets aren’t large enough.
I think it’s time to clean out the garage and rearrange our pantry. It’s a task long past due now that we have a lot of food that we no longer eat.
Now, go check your onions 🙂
How did you manage money wisely this week?
