This week two of the four school-aged kids had testing. In Alaska state testing is not mandatory and plenty of homeschooling families choose to opt out. Our family enjoys and values testing (hey, it’s something different!) and so we embrace the difference that it brings to our spring.
I forgot how life with a newborn makes even simple errands seem daunting. I braved life outside the cave this week and ventured down to the library with the gang to grab some books. Upon arriving home, this sight greeted me. Could’ve been worse, right? Worse, as in twenty minutes later a kitchen shelf could break and shatter a pyrex bowl into a gazillion pieces all over the floor. But of course, that wouldn’t happen 😉
Houston, we have smiles! And pimples! And funky, flaky skin! And milk stink! All of the baby goodness…
Here is my gentle giant holding his “little buddy” (see, we’re going all “Dugger” with the buddy system). I don’t know why big brother looks like he’s nervous. He totally digs the newest dude. I love the fact that my big guy wears this hat constantly. He also wants to work at NASA …and oversee their space football program.
You tell me what is happening in this photo. Is it our awesome german shepherd (Zelda) relaxing under the kitchen table while “Ronnie” sweeps up, or is Zelda engaging in a more nefarious behavior with the Roomba? Perhaps giving Ronnie a talking to? 🙂
Our poor Z. She gets pestered with all sorts of noise and craziness. And to think, I spent her first puppy months worrying that she’d be too ferocious and try to eat people constantly…
I asked for your help, and you responded – Thank you! From a facebook post yesterday:
This is tough! Planning a family vacay (our first true-blue family trip) and can’t decide on an airport. Fly into Salt Lake and drive down to the Grand Canyon and back (much more driving overall), OR fly to Phoenix, set up home base in Sedona, and explore the surrounding area + the Grand Canyon (much less hours in the car). Any advice?
After hearing your responses, I’m leaning away from the Utah itinerary (pictured above), and towards chilling in AZ with a vacation home as a base of operations. Please, please, please let me know if there are any must-see attractions that you’d recommend!
What’s new with you this week?
