Welcome to money Monday, where I share my highs and lows from a week of money management.
This week I saved money by shopping around for the best price on this year’s curriculum. With a million and one places to buy popular homeschooling resources, I had my job cut out for me!
Wise Money Management
In addition to comparison shopping, I renewed the kids’ Math Whizz subscriptions through the Homeschool Buyer’s Co-op. My kids love this online math supplement. I love that I can get it at a great price through the buying power of the co-op.
We also saved money on family entertainment by purchasing a new pair of bowling shoes for my second oldest kiddo. Wait a minute! I saved money by spending money??! I know what you’re thinking. Let me explain.
Each summer we sign up for the Kids Bowl Free program. Each kiddo gets 2 games of bowling each day throughout the summer. **It’s legit! Try it out yourself by searching for a participating bowling alley.
When we first began the program three years ago we purchased a pair of bowling shoes for each child. Having shoes allows us to bowl without paying for shoe rental (the program includes games only). We walk in and out of the alley without paying a dime.
Every year or two I buy a new pair of larger shoes and each kid moves up a size. At under $30 for several month’s of bowling for a family of 7, that’s a great deal!
Mismanagement. Ouch!
I forgot to adjust our amazon subscribe and save order and ended up with 3 cases of potato chips, amongst other unneeded items. Yowzers. Yum. My poor waistline.
Don’t be like me; set a reminder a week or two before delivery so that you don’t end up with more vitamin C than you can shake a stick at!
How did you manage money wisely this week?
*FYI, the links on this page may contain an affiliate kickback (if you buy at these great prices I’ll get a small cut at no cost to you). Thank you!
