Welcome to money Monday, where I share my highs and lows from a week of money management.
Wise Money Management
Two words: steak dinner. Yeah baby. Ask me if I ever order a steak dinner at a restaurant. Go ahead, ask me. Answer: no. Nope. No way. Why would I do that when I can have an awesome steak dinner at home for half the price?
A few years ago one of my husband’s friends showed him how to grill up a fantastic steak. Until that point our few attempts at steak had been… less than stellar. Hubby says this is the trick to a great steak:
- Use high heat.
- Don’t mess with it (just flip it once).
- Test doneness toward the end by poking it with a spatula. It should give a bit, but not be mushy. You certainly don’t want it to end up firm. That’d be bad. A definite no-no.
Three years ago my sister-in-law (the runner) brought my boys to a fun race called “running with the bulls.” No, it’s not as crazy as it sounds. The runners race through a field with musk oxen (or is it musk ox?) penned on either side.
The last two years we’ve gone as a family. This year we’re going again. For the first time my husband will be joining the 5k runners. It’s a great family atmosphere with live music and a fun farm feel. Where does the money mismanagement come in, you ask?
We registered just a week ago. Late. To the tune of nearly a hundred buckaroos for the whole family. It would’ve cost at least 30% less to register early. Oops! Lesson learned.
