Time to slow down & enjoy life in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. I think that’s one of the reasons why I love coffee so much. It forces me to chill out, one sip at a time.
Welcome to money Monday, where I share my highs and lows from a week of money management. Join in and share your highs and lows!

Car wash entertainment. Remember the thrill of going through the car wash as a kid?
Wise Money Management
This week I saved money by making soup. Sound dumb?
Seriously, it’s embarrassing, but I’d completely forgotten how easy, delicious, and frugal soup could be. I’ve been in a serious “meat rut” ever since we’ve gone paleo(ish). Don’t get me wrong, I love a well-seasoned roast, or steak, or whatever, but sometimes a good ‘ol soup really hits the pot. I mean… spot 😉
This week I served up a hearty ham soup, as well as a pretty fantastic chili. <<—- This is my FAVORITE chili recipe!
I used to fear soup. My kids didn’t appreciate the work (“where’s the mac & cheese, mom?”) and my husband didn’t find them to be stick-to-the-ribs enough for his hearty appetite.
Now that I’m back on the wagon, I’m having a blast making great, nourishing soups and stews for our growing clan.
Mismanagement. Ouch!
Today I caught up our receipts and bills for last month. The glaring overspend from last month’s budget? Two words: Star.Bucks. Ok, it’s really one word. But I spend enough for two.
The saddest part? I’ve mostly come to prefer my at-home americanos to the expensive variety.
How did you manage money wisely this week?
