Welcome to money Monday, where I share my highs and lows from a week of money management.
Wise Money Management
This week I saved money by using our local supermarket gas savings program. Thirty-five dollars worth of savings! Yep, we totally emptied the gas-guzzling Suburban and then refilled with our $1/gallon savings fuel. It was pretty much awesome.
We were on a bit of a high after our gas savings (and no, it wasn’t just the fumes).
Off we headed toward Taco Bell, our Sunday tradition. The suburban was purring along with its happily full belly.
We use the Taco Bell app to make our food order. With 5 kids age nine and under we use some simple substitutions to keep everyone’s palate happy and costs down. Since our order can be a bit more complex than the norm, it’s a huge help to pre-order and avoid confusing conversations at the drive thru.
When using the Taco Bell app there’s always a $2 off coupon that lowers the cost of the visit. This week there was a $10 off coupon!
We saved $35 on gas, and now we were gonna receive $10 off our lunch?!
I was ecstatic. So ecstatic that I forgot to submit our order and had to hurriedly finish the transaction while sitting in the drive thru.
No biggie, right?
Except I wasn’t able to get the $10 discount (something about the wrong payment method). And, because I was in a rush, I didn’t at least snag my typical $2 discount. Instead we paid full price.
Full price, people!!! Oh, the shame 🙂
It’s only a $2 loss, but those were two bucks that simply needed to be picked up. The lesson here? Being in a rush never pays off.
Unless you’re in NASCAR, which I am not.
How did you manage money wisely this week?
