Father’s day is one of my favorite days of the year. It’s a day that we get to celebrate our fathers, our children’s fathers, and the men in our lives that have been like a father to us.
Many families chose to celebrate this day by giving gifts. Our family gives my husband a very special gift each year. This is a unique gift, one-of-a-kind, just for him– a movie, straight from our hearts! Some years this movie celebrates his fatherhood, and some years it’s just plain for-fun.
In the past I created and directed the movies, but now my children have taken the reins and even do all of the editing. It’s perfect!
Nothing beats a homemade gift from the heart, but if you’re choosing to purchase a gift for the father in your life this year, I’d encourage you to choose one that encourages and inspires him financially.

Have you heard of the cash envelope system? This budgeting method is a sure-fire way to reign in out of control spending and help families to feel in control of their income. Pictured above are 5-star rated envelopes to use for the cash envelope system. These are inexpensive too.
A fancier version of the envelope system, this one (the official starter envelope system from Financial Peace University) can easily be kept in the car or briefcase.
Here’s an even more creative way to keep track of Dad’s cash when using the cash budgeting method: magnetic envelopes that can be unattached for shopping and then reattached for convenience.
This popular book, The Millionaire Next Door, is a great way to get Dad started on a successful financial future. It’s inspirational and very readable. This would be a great idea for someone who isn’t yet fully committed to the idea of paying off debt, but knows that they want to experience freedom in their finances.
The Total Money Makeover will deliver as promised, completely making over your money life. ‘Nuff said.
A classic and effective approach to managing money, this book will have Dad on the path to financial freedom in no time (while simultaneously guiding him through an in-depth study on what the Bible has to say about money).
Sure, a tie tack is a great Father’s Day gift, but what he really wants is to be financially free and successful. So, pass up the new watch this year and snag him one of these resources instead.
