This past week feels like the true start of summer. The only problem? It’s a mere two weeks until we start school again.
To remedy this perceived problem, I keep telling myself that, in reality, August and September are some of the best months of the year in Southcentral Alaska.
Thankfully, I’m telling myself the truth.
If you really use your eagle eyes, you can see a couple of cute kiddos playing nicely with each other in this photo. Using imaginative play in the woods makes my mama heart smile a huge smile. Lately it’s been feeling like as a family we need to go through some remedial “everyone be nice to each other” training. Parents included.
But, I can’t tell if it’s as dire a problem as I’m imagining, or if it’s just my exhausted mama brain making mountains of molehills.
I spent probably 20 hours researching rental cars this past week. I’m pretty sure I saved a hundred bucks. Not sure if 20 hours of bleary-eyed googling and children-avoiding was worth it.
I’m learning a whole lot about large-family travel planning. I’m also learning that a 12 passenger van rental costs the same as renting a Mercedes convertible, PLUS an economy car. Sheesh.
I’m not going to pretend that this will become a regular occurence (although I know that it should). Here I am on the bike, with the dog on the treadmill. Two sweaty birds, one stone.
Monkey is rolling like crazy. What’s the point in putting down a blanket if you’re going to roll right off it? Also, I am loving this book. Totally floating my boat, even if it does have some of that uber poetic writing that normally drives me bonkers.
What’s new with you this week?
